HomeAid Raises $20,000 for One Heart for Women and Children.

What a week, HomeAid Orlando supporters dug-in and raised money, ordered Amazon panty items and collected food and other staples from member companies and friends of HomeAid. All this support was directed at One Heart for Women and Children, with the total benefit exceeding $20,000. Cash donations of $13,000 added to Amazon wish list items and location drop box collections of over 1,000 pounds of items to stock the One Heart Pantry. The leaders of this effort included Park Square Homes, Taylor Morrison, Del Air Heating and Cooling, Toll Brothers, First American Title, Able Trim and Door, Ashton Woods Homes, and KHovnanian Homes. HomeAid Board members pitched-in and bought lunches for One Heart staff each day of the week-long campaign. Day-in-day-out the One Heart team of more than 50 volunteers unloads, organizes, and loads into families’ cars (or in some cases, delivers) thousands of pounds of food to keep families all around the western Orlando suburbs from being hungry. Stephanie Bowman, CEO and Founder of One Heart, said “HomeAid is an amazing partner, we thank them for all the support and feeding our crew lunches all week. Their help means a lot.”

HomeAid is continuing their support to One Heart, with a minor construction project to expand the pantry space at One Heart’s resource center; thereby allowing for more government food credits and expansion of their services. HomeAid’s Construction committee chairperson, Douglas Guy with KB Home, said “the work that One Heart for Women and Children does in our community is vital and we are proud to help grow that effort in any way possible.” The project, coordinated between KB Home and Richmond American, will add 33% more space to storage facilities within One Heart for Women and Children’s food pantry. The project carries a retail value of approximately $5,000 and all labor and material are being donated from HomeAid’s partner companies including: Builders First Source, Sherwin Williams, GC Contracting, American Residential Products, Strada Electric, Toll Brothers, and Bright Pro Painting. When complete, the expanded space will yield additional food credits that increase One Heart’s buying power by approximately $50,000 per year.
